The Airgunners stayed with host families in the municipality of Dronten. What started with 'just' opening their house for a week, ended in long-term contacts between the Airgunners, their families and the host families. They become family and very close bonds are formed. People visit each other back and forth and are present at special events in everyone's lives. Without the efforts of the host families, commemoration in Dronten would not be what it is today.
