To remember
In the Netherlands, we remember the victims of World War II in Europe and Southeast Asia on May 4. Since 1961, we have also commemorated the victims of war situations and peacekeeping operations involving the Netherlands after World War II. In Dronten, we particularly remember the Airgunners. Celebrate
On May 5, we celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945 and the fact that we have lived in freedom ever since. On this day, we also reflect on the value of freedom, democracy, and human rights. The Stichting 4 Mei Herdenking Dronten commemorates this by serving the Freedom Soup.
