De Dukdalf elementary school adopts monument
Every year the monument is adopted by Group 7 of one of the elementary schools in the municipality of Dronten. These pupils take care of the monument for a year. Last year the pupils were from De Tamarisk from Biddinghuizen. They now pass on the responsibility to group 7 of De Dukdalf from Dronten.
Today the pupils came to the House of the Municipality of Dronten to talk with Mayor Jean Paul Gebben. They attended a guest lesson by Tjerk Zwanenburg who told them about recovering World War II planes. Gert Talens also told the story of Kitchen and Williamson, the occupants of De Havilland Mosquito that crashed on Nov. 27, 1944.
Finally, the students cleaned the monument so it will look neat for the memorial ceremony on May 4. They will also be represented during the ceremony and place a wreath from their school at the monument.
As 4th of May Remembrance Foundation Dronten we are very grateful for the involvement of all students, teachers and parents.
