Eskimolaan 1, Dronten

Parts of a British aircraft, including part of a tail turret, were found on the plot near this memorial post in November 1959. It can be deduced from the type that either a Vickers Wellington or a late series Avro Lancaster bomber crashed here. Unfortunately, the identity of this device has never been established.

Human remains were also found, presumably of the gunner of the tail turret. These were buried as 'Known unto God' in the Jonkerbos cemetery in Nijmegen.
